Pan/tilt mount evolution

The first pan/tilt mount for the camera was just servos blutacked or polymorphed together (version 1). Then it was a tilt mount out of bent metal (version 2). Now I have designed and printed a mount on the Hackerspace Brisbane reprap!

  1. Looks good. Are the openScad files published somewhere? I need to make something similar, and it would be good to see how you have done it.

    Thanks

    Graham.

  2. Hi Graham, thanks for your interest. Yes, the scads are in sourceforge at
    https://rccarproject.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/rccarproject/trunk/scads/

However as a v1 I intended to improve them, but then was going to redesign them entirely. Neither of these things have happened!

Essentially I started by measuring and modeling the parts like the camera and servo, so I could subtract them from the parts. I kept it modular in that separate moving parts have their own model. They are centered around their axis so I can put the top part onto its rod in the image shown above.

You will probably have to adjust the servo holder for your specific servos. I found out that I had modelled a different one than I actually used. I used a lighter to soften the plastic in order to move it a little bit.

Also the sides holding the top up are a little flimsy-feeling, but they haven't broken. I was going to make the connection to the base a little stronger.

Hope this helps. Can you tell me about your project?
    Joel
